On 11 March 2011, the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami has devastated Japan. Many lives were lost, with many more displaced, the destructive waves of black water causing the people of Japan immense pain and suffering. The earthquake has shook not just Japan, but also the world, reminding us of compassion and empathy to our friends in need.
On 20 April 2011 at Night and Day, contemporary dancer, Mayu Watanabe, and musician, Yuzuru Maeda, will perform a collaborative music and dance piece titled Black Water | White Water dedicated to the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami victims, both inland and overseas.
Donations offered, along with part of proceeds made by Night and Day during the event, will be sent to Mercy Relief funds to aid the victims.
We are also collecting paper cranes to send prayer to Japan. (more details here.)
Let us come together, and send our love and solidarity, waves of healing white water bigger than the tsunami, across the world to Japan!

Watched the Black Water White Water performance.
It's such a great collaboration between the Dancer and the Musician. The movements and the music blends together as a whole that touches into the audiences heart and it leaves a deep feeling.
In my view, the performance consist of 3 (three) act:
Act 1 - The Hidden Danger
Most people in Japan unaware of the hidden danger behind the kind land of rising sun.
Act 2 - Destruction
The sudden disaster's massive impact was only beginning of the destruction. The most powerful earthquake hit the island and there is nowhere to hide.
The tsunami hits all around the island, covering the land, the houses, wash away the peoples and create a horrifying damage on the island.
Anxiety... Agony... Loss.......
Act 3 - Relief
Rescue efforts began as soon as the news spread with the first light as military helicopters plucked survivors and the warmth from all around the world.
Please note: The review is based on my own perception of the performance.
Love,
Ms. W
